Hey guys just a little update. I got a call back from Hoosier and they are set to start making a set of drag radials in 225/45/17. They said the test sets should be ready in about 2-3 weeks and will be sending me 8 tires to test once they are ready. So if everything works out I might have a set on my car for the next CMI event. Chris if you want to test the other set let me know and I will see what I can work out for you. I might have some other car owners that might be interested in trying testing out that set. Would love to see if they would want to sponsor the AWD heads up class, maybe even do that thru my new racing company that I am starting.

Mike we have a customer or two that would be interested in trying them out as well if you have enough to go around.

In case they do work out what would be the expected time for manufacturing them?

Also can you drop them a line and see if they can possibly make them in a larger size say 245 since that is also a common size tire and maybe they'll have the mold for that......225 even on the stock evo 9 wheel may look a little wierd.....

He said about 1-2 months after testing is done since they will need to make the side wall plates for production.

Are you talking 245/40 or 245/45? I can ask him next time I talk to him. But if a 225/45 will get enough traction and is the height needed it will actually have less rolling resistance. Plus they aren't exactly street legal so they would only be seen on the car at the track. But for you guys they make the right size in the quick time pro. Reason I asked about the 225/45/17 is because I dont think I can fit a 26" tire on my car because of the arm on the rear of the car that goes up over the tire. Bad enough my 225/45/17 drag radials come very close to that arm as it is.

I would defenetly like to test out a set, This type of tire would defenetly take off in the Evo world if it performs good at the strip. Let me know if it's possible to get a set up here to Nor Cal would like to put them to the test for my next outting at Infineon to try and break into the 10's. :D

I will most likely not have them till next month. Send me a PM or email and we can talk about the testing.

My bad i was under the impression that they were drag radials so that they could be used on the street if they are track use only then to me it's basically a full slick like the MT motorcycle slick although suited for our intended use and weight.

The QTP's like the ET streets are dot approved but far from a true drag radial.

They are drag radials and even DOT rated, but they have no tread pattern so they are not street legal. The drag radials are basically just like the QTP's but are a radial not a bias ply tire.

Problem is that most people see the DOT approved rating and think they are DOT legal. There is a difference between the 2. To be DOT legal the tires will need channels to move water away from the center of the tire, other wise they will just hydroplane when the tire hits water.

Just make sure they are not out of date, they are only good for 2 years after being made. Some tracks check the date when doing tech. I have a set 4 point harness I just took out that is out of date, it is a cam lock setup.

Well I did just that today when I called to give them my shipping info. The Rep said he would be more then willing to make some 245/45/17 drag radials for me, but this can not happen till after the R&D of the 225/45/17's and if those work out like we hope. So if some of you guys are interested in the 225/45 or 245/45 Hoosier Drag radials please let me know so I can put a list together and let them know when these tires might be available.

I still hope to have the hoosiers on my car for the CMI event at the end of next month, well if I can find a damn trailer to use at that point since the trailer I usually use is not available. I guess its just time to break down and buy a 20 ft enclosed trailer.
