EvoEmpire Rules
Welcome to EvoEmpire.org
I’m updating the rules here to keep things simple. Hopefully we can get back to the free exchange of ideas and tech without all the extraneous bullshit that has been cropping up on the forum. So here we go.
1) Respect
This is top, give it. It is ok to disagree with others, it is ok to not like other members, but treat everyone with respect.
2) Bring the tech!
If you have something to say or a counter point to make, be sure to be able to back it up with sources. Personal experience is ok, if you work in that trade day in day out. Don’t bring 3rd hand information to the table. If something happened to a “friend” or “buddy” then get them to talk about it. Too many details and facts get lost in the retelling.
3) Stay on topic.
This is pretty easy, but I have seen too many good threads get steered off into a ditch. While I like to keep all relevant info in one thread, feel free to start a new one if the subject of your post is quite a bit different that the subject of the thread. The only area where I really don’t care if you go off topic is in the “General Discussion” area.
4) Make your post meaningful.
Please, if all you have to add is “+1” or the like, then try to think through and post something of a little more substance. Again the “General Discussion” area is exempt from this.
5) The English Language.
I know I’m not the one to be talking about this, but please don’t kill the language anymore that it already is. This is a web forum; its main purpose is to convey thoughts and ideas in a text format. If we don’t know what point you are trying to make, then maybe this isn’t the place for you.
So that should cover most things, also use a bit of common since when posting. Also, I won’t ban anyone for speaking your mind, but I will give people 24 -48 hour vacations for being PITA and breaking rules. The only way you will get banned is to be a spammer, make personal attacks against someone, or be a gigantic asshat.
If you have an issue with a post or someone, let me or one of the admins/mods know. There is a little button to report post, so please use it. We can’t be everywhere all the time. BUT don’t come at me like “I was going to be a supporting member but member xxxx said something I didn’t like so….” It will make me think less of you.
